What We Do With Your Details

What We Collect

Only what you send us. Your name, a way to reply to you, your dates, how many of you there are, and whatever else you choose to put in the message.

If you book, we also hold the booking itself and whatever is needed to check you in, which in Sri Lanka includes the passport details of foreign guests. We do not ask for anything we do not need, and we do not store card details on this website.

The booking form on this site sends your message to us by email and keeps no copy on the website. The site records nothing else about you: no account, no profile, no tracking.

Why We Collect It

To answer you, to hold your cottage, and to arrange the things you ask us to arrange. That is the whole list. We do not build profiles, we do not run a mailing list and we will not send you a newsletter.

How Long We Keep It

An enquiry that does not become a booking is deleted after 12 months. We keep it that long only because people often come back to the same dates a year later and ask us to pick up where we left off.

A booking stays in our accounts for the years Sri Lankan tax law requires us to keep records, and then goes. Guest registration details are kept for the period the authorities require and no longer.

Who Else Sees It

Nobody, with one exception. When you ask us to arrange a safari, a driver or a tuk tuk, the person doing it gets your name, the date and the pickup time. Nothing else, and only when you have asked for it.

We do not sell anything to anybody and we have no advertising partners.

A Note About WhatsApp

Most of our conversations happen on WhatsApp, and WhatsApp is not ours. Messages sit on their servers under their terms, not under this page. If that matters to you, email or ring instead and we will keep it off WhatsApp entirely.

Cookies and Analytics

This site sets no analytics cookies and runs no advertising or tracking scripts, which is why there is no cookie banner. If that ever changes, this page will say so first, and you will be asked before anything is set.

A few things on the page are loaded from other companies' servers: the typefaces from Google Fonts, and the layout and slider scripts from the jsDelivr and cdnjs content networks. Those companies see your device's address when it fetches the file, under their own privacy terms. The map on the contact page is a Google Maps embed and loads with that page, so Google sees your device's address there too.

The booking form uses the Contact Form 7 plugin, which emails your message to us and stores nothing on the site.

Your Rights, and How to Ask

Ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you. Ask us to correct it or delete it and we will, unless we are required to keep a booking record for tax. Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act of 2022 gives you these rights, and we would honour them anyway.

One message is enough and you do not have to give a reason. We answer within 6 hours, as we do every message.
